The first
course of master degree in animation department was
formed in l977 with the cooperation of Kanoon and Farabi
University. However its activity was terminated at the
time of revolution in l978. A few years later, Farabi
University was renamed as Art University and was
connected to the High Cultural Committee. The committee
selected a group; Nooredin Zarinkelk, Engineer
Sharifabadi and Hamid Dehghanpour to be responsible for
the re-formation of the animation department in the Art
University. In 1991, the School of Cinema & Theatre
established an educational program and summoned the
animation students of ex-Farabi University and restarted
its activity, after which time the students were
admitted continuously. Presently, 80 students have
graduated in animation MA degree from the Art
University.
The Potentiality of the master degree animation
department of Art University is as follows:
Specialized armature puppet making workshop: In this
workshop, the students get acquainted with puppet
animation films as well as the making of a professional
puppet and its animation. Some of the students choose to
make a puppet animation film for their thesis. The
workshop is equipped with a computerized cinematography
system enabling the students to learn the art of
animation more quickly.
Specialized Computer Workshop:
This workshop is equipped with three sets of computers
with a perfect potentiality. The students can use these
systems to work on the different stages of movement
drills and completion stages of their work, going as far
as copying unto DV and Beta Cam tapes. The portable
digital sound recording system enables the students to
make use of natural sounds.
Specialized design and animation workshop:
The students use a well equipped workshop. The use of
paper punch with a pin system provides desirable cartoon
production for the students. The film screening theater
has a video projection system for the use of students
who need to screen their films.
