Daniel Suljic

 

Animator and musician. Has played about 130 concerts in all of the main Croatian and Austrian venues. His films have been shown at different TVstations across Europe and the Usa and at more    than 140 national and international film festivals: Annecy, Zagreb, Stuttgart, Hiroshima,    Espihno, Fantoche, Sao Paolo, Utrecht among others. He is also working as a TV jounralist, a taxi  driver and  a Dj

 

Currently, he is working on new films and new songs.

 

Paul Driessen

 

Born in 3rd March 1940, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Paul Dreissen drew cartoons from an early age. In 1964, he graduated from Art Academy in Utrecht, and was offered a job as an animator at a commercial animation Film & TV Studio in Hilversum. In 1967, he was invited to London to work on George Dunning's The Yellow Submarine.In 1970, Paul Driessen immigrated to Canada and started a freelance animation career, working mainly for the National Film board of Canada. He also animated and directed many of his films for independent producers in The Netherlands. Up to now Paul Driessen won over 70 international awards for his works. His 3 Misses earned him an Oscar Nomination in 2000.In 1987 ASIFA Hollywood presented the Annie Award to him for his Distinguished contribution to the art of animation. In 1994, at the Ottawa Animation Festival, the international Association of Animated Films gave Paul Driessen, the ASIFA-International Life Achievement Award. In 2002, the Zagreb Festival gave him another Life Achievement Award. In October 2005, in Cracow, Poland, he was given the Special golden Dinosaur Award for an outstanding artist and teacher. Until recently Paul Drieseen has also taught animation on a regular basis at the University of Kassel in Germany. Under his guidance his students have won two Oscars.Lately he wrote and illustrated a couple of books, typical of the style which characterizes the rest of his work; they are published in English and French in Montreal. Paul Driessen is currently working on new film at the National film board of Canada.

 

Sabrina Brigit Wanie

 

Sabrina Wanie was born on 30 March 1958 in Berlin. Sabrina Wanie studied graphics and 2D animation in London. Between 1982 to1984, she worked as an animator at the Alexandrov & Glauert Animation Studio in film and TV production. Her projects include: "Janosch's dream hour" and "Aladdein and the magic lamp". In 1992, Sabrina Wanie and Gerd Wanie founded the company "Digitrick" in Berlin. Their Studio is focused on 2D/3D animation, design and illustration. From 1999 untill 2006 she was professor and dean at the traditional and digital animation & digital processing faculty, The German Film School, Elstal-Germany. She was member of the jury at the "Sehsuchte Film Festival" in 2002. Sabrina Wanie organized animation workshops at the film festivals in Emden, Germany with Heinz Busert. In 2006 she founded the company TFG Toon films GMBH together with Gerd Wanie and Ute Krause. She is the creative consultant for the following projects" Paradiso" , German broadcaster RBB; "Central Building'', German Broadcaster WDR and French Broadcaster Canal; The German Michel', 5' Animation, German Broadcaster RBB; Various music vidios for VIVA, MTV, Germany and several commercials. He has been as creative supervisor for the following projects:" Mouse spots with the mouse", commercial and animation sequences for interactive games. Sabrina Wanie is co-producer and director of the 3D series" The Muffles", 52 5 minutes episodes for the German Broadcaster RBB.

 

Regina Pessoa

 

She was born in Coimbra Portugal in 1969. Graduated from Oporto's Fine Art's School. She started at Filmografo, where she worked on the films The Outlaws, Stowaway by Abi Feijo and was also co-author of Vicious Cycle and Christmas Stars. In 1999, she directed and animated her first independent film The night, using engraving on plaster plates that received 10 awards in internationally. In 2005 she directed her second short animated film, Tragic Story with Happy Ending, using again an engraving method. This second film received 50 International prizes from around the world, including: 3 awards in Annecy, Special Jury Award Cinanima 2005, the Special Jury Award at Anifest Trebon 2006, nominee for the Cartoon D'Or Europe 2006. She is now starting the production of her new animation project Kali, the little Vampire as a co-production of Portugal, Canada and France.Parallel to her film-making activities, Regina also gives animation workshops. She has been a jury at 14 national and international animation festivals, including Zagreb Animafest 2008, Cinanima 2003 and 2007, Stuttgart 2007 and Animadrid 2007.

 

Dr. Akbar Alemi

 

 

He was born in 1945, in Ahwaz. He joined the Iranian Administration for Fine Arts in 1963, before going on to study in Iran and UK. He studied English Literature at Tehran University and continued his studies in Cinema, TV & Radio at the same school and graduated in 1973. He has been working with Tehran Animation School affiliated with KANOON (Inst. for the Intellectual Development of Children & Young Adults) since the establishment in 1974. He was invited to teach at Farabi University (Post-Graduate School) in 1976 and has kept giving lectures at art schools till now.

 

Alemi has been a member of Jury in different editions of Tehran Int'l Animation Festival, Fajr Int'l Film Festival, Tehran Int'l Short Film Festival and Roshd Int'l Film Festival.  

 

He has been lecturing continually in Tarbiat Modarres University and was the head of Animation Department of the Post-Graduate School at the University for fourteen years. Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has honored him with a doctorate for his works. He is also an active member of ASIFA.
