Gerrit Van Dijk was born in 1938, in Uden, the Netherlands. Like most animators he did not have any film training. When he was fifteen, he went to Tilburg Art College, with his sights firmly set on one goal: to become a painter. After graduation he did not draw or paint for years. He only taught art. The Last Words of Dutch Schultz |
Synopsis: Short animation film in a kind of a stream of associative images on the last words of the notorious gangster Arthur Flegenheimer, alias Dutch Schultz, which he spoke just before dying in 1935 in New York, during which time he was interrogated by the FBI after an assassination on his life. Each chapter of the film starts with a live-action scene, in which the attempted murderous assault upon Dutch Schultz is shown through different perspectives.
