Born: 1923, Susice, Czech
Learned animation at Pragfilm Studio. At the end of the
second World War, he was one of the founders of Jiri
Trnka animation studio, with whom he made his first
films. Over the years, his reputation grew and he picked
up many awards at film festivals around the world,
including Locarno, Cannes, Annecy, Chicago, Berlin, New
York, Los Angeles, Zagreb, Barcelona, and Buenos Aires.
In 1969, the National Film Board of Canada invited him
for the first time to animate "Psychocratie", an
invitation often repeated over the years. It yielded "Balablok"
(1972), "E" (1981, with Francine Desbien's
collaboration) and "Nightangel" (1986, co-directed with
Jacques Drouin).
UN and National Film Board of Canada commissioned to him
to make cell animations. He experimented with
transparencies decorated in low relief with puppet
figures. This is a combination of cell animation and
puppets, unique to him. In the "Right from the Heart"
collection, (part 3) he co-directed "Narco Blues" with
lvan Vit. |

Sayoko
Kinoshita |

Vice President of ASIFA
Born in Tokyo, Sayoko Kinoshita graduated from the
Plastic Arts department of Women's College of Fine Arts
in 1966. Kinoshita planned and directed animation and
designed the characters and lightings for several TV
programs from 1976 through 1981. As for the educational
activities. Kinoshita has not only been giving lectures
at art universities and colleges since the early 80's,
but also has been teaching animation to the audio-visual
professionals of more than 30 developing countries and
organizing animation workshops for children.
In 1985, she founded the first international competitive
international animation festival in Asia (Hiroshima).
This festival is endorsed by ASIFA (administration
registered in Annecy, France), held biennially.
Kinoshita has been working as the Festival Director
since its first edition, the 9th edition will be held in
August 2002.
Also, during 1986-1994, she annually organized the
non-competitive animation international festival in
Itabashi District, Tokyo. At this festival, she
emphasized the program on short animation, one country
each year.
On the other hand, Kinoshita has been coordinating
animation programs for film festival and art museums of
various countries since the early 80's. In 1986, she was

Nelson
Shin |

President of ASIFA – Korea
After graduating from the College of Fine Arts in 1960,
he workded for a daily newspaper in Seoul ad a political
cartoonist. After going to USA, he worked for
DePatie-Freleng Enterprises from 1973 to 1979 and
handled so many shows as an animator during this period
with Friz Freleng, Bob McKimson and many other main
veins of Warner Brothers. From 1980 to 1988 in Marvel
Productions, he directed and produced "The Transformers
of the Movie" and over 100 of the TV series as a
line-producer.
In 1985 he established AKOM production company in Seoul,
Korea. In many TV series, some of his works won the Emmy
Award many times from 1987 through 1999.
He is currently publishing "ANIMATOON", a bi-monthly
animation journal and taking many roles as a committee
member in many Korean animation festivals. In 1996 he
organized ASIFA Korea and still holds position of the
president. In addition to his numerous jobs, today he
concentrates on teaching students in Hong-ik University
in Seoul. |

Tiziana
Loschi |
|
After obtaining a Master's degree in Political Sciences,
Tiziana Loschi worked in the public sector for fifteen
years before joining Cica in 1996. As Company Secretary
she assisted the Managing Director, Jean-Luc Xiberras,
in Annecy and Mifa Festivals, which became annual in
1997.
From 1998 Tiziana was entrusted the operational
management of the association. Apart from the general
day to day management duties, this post requires making
sure that all projects are aimed at developing the
knowledge and influence of animation in its artistic
dimentsion.
Tiziana is personally involved in projects such as
making up programmes for other events, according to the
country and public concerned; choosing the subjects for
the conferences organized in Annecy which generate
constructive debates for development and give new angles
to creators for their creative expression and organizing
the creative Focus, Animation and Multimedia Job Fair,
whose special concept is to reunite creators, deciders
and training establishments. As the direct link between
the different protagonists in the world of animation
(institutional professional, public), Tiziana puts the
Cica and events it organizes at the creator's service
for the promotion, development and circulation of their
art. |

Hamid
Navim |
|
Born: 1943, Tehran, Iran
Studied painting at the High School of Fine Arts in
Tehran and continued his studies to take a masters
degree in graphics from the University of Fine Arts in
Braunschwieg, Germany. He also studied film design,
production abd animation films direction at Hochschule
der Kunste (University of Fine Arts) in Berlin.
Navim worked as a director of German documentaries and
advertising films at Deutsche Dokumentar und Werbe Film
and founded the Zentrum fur Film und Grafik (Center for
Film, Photography and Graphics) at FU (Free University)
in Berlin. He is the key animator of the feature film
Agaton Sax, the first full-animated feature film in
Sweden at Team-Film A.B. As an animation teacher he has
taught at the Postgraduate School of Farabi University,
IRIB TV College and Tehran University in Iran while
directing and producing animated films in IRIB TV
Channel 1.
Founding Navim Film Studio in Tehran, Film Folket
association and Scanimation Production Company in
Sweden, directing and producing films at Hunnar Film in
Bombay (India), New Vision and Medesign Company (Sweden)
and making more than 40 short films is the main part of
his career as a filmmaker.
Navim's last film, Regal the Golden Bear won awards at
Chicago and Mill Valley Film Festivals and nominated for
Guldbagge (Golden Ram) 2000, the most respected award in
Sweden. He is also a member of the Director Boarding of
Kaleidoscope in Sweden. |
