The vast potentials of the art of animation can be
realized parallel with the growth of the child, if
taught from early childhood. The main idea here is
encourage and utilize the rich imaginative powers of
children -- what constitutes the basis of animation --
and at the same time, through application of simple
methods in teaching the principles of this art, to train
potential audience for the future works of animation.
During the second edition of the Festival, Erling
Ericsson, himself a producer of educational films in the
Swedish Television, hold special classes for teaching
animation skills to children. He conveyed his
ten-year-long experience in the field of animation to
Iranian children. One of the films made in the workshop
by participants was screened in the closing ceremony of
the Festival.
In addition to instruction of animation skills to
Iranian children of 9 to 15 years old, Ericsson had
separate sessions with some of the tutors of IIDCYA
working in various parts of the country. This was a
great opportunity for them to discuss methods of
teaching animation with him.
