Started at 17 as a cartoonist for the Soviet Circus newspaper. From 1987 he was animator, scriptwriter and co-director at the Moscow Animation Studio Pilot. In 1997 he set up the Nils Studio and in 1998 started to work for Hollywood's Kinofilm Studio, working on TV series Mike, Lu and Og.
