Farkhondeh Torabi |
|
|
Born in 1965, she studied psychology in
university. In 1988 she joined IIDCYA (Kanoon) and
learned theory and practice of animation under the
supervision of Vajihollah Fard-Moghaddam. She
started making animation shorts herself in 1991;
Flight, Health brings Joy, The Thirsty Crow,
Rainbow Fish, and Shangoul and Mangoul were made
in this period. She was member of jury of House of
Cinema annual feast two times. Her films,
especially Shangoul and Mangoul, have won many
international prizes. |

Amir Mohammad Dehestani |
|
|
Born in Tehran in 1969, he studied cinema and
animation (M.A. degree) in University of Arts.
He started his career as a professional animator
in 1993 and has made numerous 3D computer
animation commercials since then. He has been
cooperating as writer, director and production
system designer with a number of big projects for
production of animation serials in the country.
The following are some of his projects:
Kind Sweetheart serial in 32 installations (1996),
320'
The Story of the History educational series in 40
installations (1999), 760'
The Story of Prophets (2000), the first
feature-length digital animation film produced in
Iran
The Stories of the Tiny One in 13 installations
(2002), about 170'
The Times of Prophet Solomon (Peace Be Upon Him),
temporary title: Holy Kings, in production. It is
being made in 3D digital technique with a
quasi-realistic look.
Dehestani teaches cinema and animation in various
universities and works in Hoor Cultural and Art
Institution as chief director. |

Ali Akbar Sadeghi |
|
|
Born: 1937, Tehran, Iran
Began his studies in painting at Tehran University
in 1958 and started out his career at IIDCYA with
illustrating the book "Hero of the Heroes". After
six years, he had made 6 animated films before
giving up filmmaking to devote himself to
painting.
His animated films, "Seven Cities", "The Flower
Storm", "boasting", "Rook", "Prince Khorshid", "Zal
and Simorgh" among others went down in Iranian
animation history and garnered numerous national
and international awards. His films have been
screened around the world and his illustrations
have received many awards.
He has frequently exhibited and published his
paintings. He sat on jury at several national and
international festivals including the First and
the Second Tehran International Animation
Festival.
His films have picked up many awards at film
festivals around the world including: Tehran 1975,
Los Angeles 1973, Lebanon 1973, San Francisco
1973, Berlin 1974, Cracow 1978, Chicago 1975,
London 1975, Virgin Islands 1975, France 1975, and
in Paris 1977. The golden plaque of city of
Obrivilier for collection of works, 1996. |

Akbar Alemi |
|
|
Born: 1945, Ahvaz, Iran, graduating from a Tehran
high school, he joined the Iranian Administration
of Fine Arts before going on to study in Iran and
UK.
He started out at Tehran University in English
language and literature which he gave up to study
theatre at the School of Dramatic Arts but he
turned to be majored in directing at the same
school (graduated in 1973).
By his talent for drawing as a child, and taking a
fancy in photography, Alemi has been in good terms
with animation circles. He has been working with
Animation school affiliated with IIDCYA since
establishment in 1974.
He was invited to teach at Farabi University
(graduate school) in 1976 and has kept giving
lectures at art schools to date. Alemi sat on Fajr
Film Festivals Jury at the national and
international competitions several times. He also
sat on the First and Second Tehran International
Animation Festival jury in. He acted as
scriptwriter, researcher and announcer in some TV
series such as “The Other Side of the Coin” (1984)
and “The Seventh Art” (1991).
He has been continuously lecturing in Tarbiat
Modarres (Teacher Training) University and
currently is the dean of Animation Department of
the Graduate School of the above-mentioned
university.
Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has
honored him with a doctorate for his works. |

Seyed Alireza Golpayegani |
|
|
Born in 1960 in Ahwaz. He studied cinema (B.A.
degree) and then animation (M.A. degree) in
University of Arts. His main activities in the
field of animation are as follows:
Teacher of animation since 1368, member of
Scientific Board of Tarbiat Modarres University
since 1996, director of M.A. courses of University
of Arts since 1999, member of Board of ASIFA Iran,
author of a number of articles on animation and
translator of Animation of Cartoon Characters.
Filmography: Greed (Annecy, 1991), The Tale of the
Man and the Sea (Best video animation award in
Children and Young Adults Festival in Isfahan),
Colors (series in 8 parts). |
